Sharad Kelkar Replaces Mohnish Bahl… But Why Did He Leave…?

Mohnish Bahl & Sharad Kelkar

After Mohnish Bahl left the show, there were a lot of buzz about who will replace him as Dr. Ashutosh in the show. A number of names, including Anuj Saxena, Cezanne Khan, and Sharad Kelkar were discussed, but finally Sharad Kelkar was finalised to play the crucial role. In fact in the latest episode of the show Sharad has been shown as Dr. Ashutosh.

Now that one of the leads in the story has been replaced, it’ll be very interesting to see how the audience takes this change over the time. Initially however, as expected, the audience is feeling heart-broken about the replacement. KTLK’s writer, Kamlesh Pandey says “Exits and replacement are done things in daily soaps, both internationally and in India. It’s the story that drives the show and not actors. They bring their talent though they are visible part of the show”. Weather Kamlesh thinks the right way or not, only time can tell; but one must admit, the way Mohnish Bahl acted, the viewers, especially the serious ones, related themselves to him. They had discovered a real-life character in Dr. Ashutosh, and in real life, the whole personality of a person can not change like this.

Now coming to another point of discussion, which has also gathered a lot attention of the entertainment media, Why did Mohnish Bahl left the serial..?Mohnish Bahl is a renowned actor who has balanced his acting career between movies and daily soaps. He is not at all known for leaving a show mid-way. Then why did he do that..? Some say that there was a rift between the creative team of the show and him, while some others say that he was not comfortable shooting with Kritika Kamara. He himself and the channel says, his back pain was the only reason. However according to some media sources, his back pain was indeed a reason, but not the only reason. A number of factors led to the channel and Mr. Bahl arriving at a unanimous decision that Mr. Bahl will no longer work for the serial.

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

A SHOCKER: Mohnish Bahl Quits KTLK…

Mohnish Bahl as Dr Ashutosh

After a good news that KTLK will continue at its present time slot of 8 PM, here comes a bad news, in fact an utterly bad one for some. Actor Mohnish Bahl who is playing Dr. Ashutosh in the serial has left the serial. He and the Sony Channel have regarded his Back Pain as the reason. According to Sony TV’s Business Head Ms. Sneha Rajani, Mohnish’s doctors advised him to take rest, and in that case he would not be able to give his all to the show, show they agreed that Mohnish will quit.

But this is only what’s being officially said by the channel and Monish himself. Fact of the moment is that there is a buzz in the media that Mohnish quit the show because he was not very comfortable shooting with Kritika Kamara (Nidhi Verma in the serial). Well there seems to be some point in this, because many times earlier we have seen that in a number of scenes Mohnish Bahl and Kritika Kamara appeared in different frames.

Well now whatever the reason was, the story writers had to fit his exit in the story in such a way that the viewers don’t feel very unpleasant and, if possible, a new twist is brought in the story. For this Dr. Ashutosh had to die. Yes! believe me the central character of the story has died (may be temporarily, I mean he might be brought back with a plastic surgery or something like that.). But the biggest question is will the new actor who will don the hat of Dr Ashutosh be able get the support from the viewers ? Lets just wait & watch…

KTLK To Continue At 8 PM…

Update(11.05.12)- Sony has once again decided to change KTLK's timing. From 28th May the show will air Mon-Thu at 11 PM.

"Kuch Toh Log Kahenge" To Continue at 8 PM.
There’s a great news for all “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge “ fans out there. In my last post I mentioned about the confusion about the timing of the show; weather the show will be shifted to 11 PM or will it continue at 8 ? Things have become quite clear now as Sony officials have officially told the media that they have changed their minds and KTLK will continue at 8 PM. “Shubh Vivaah” the new show by UTV, will air at 7:30.
Sony officials have reportedly changed their minds due to two main reasons. The first one being that, other channels like “Star Plus” & “Zee TV” are doing well at 7:30 slot, so Sony also decided to extend its Prime Time by introducing a new soap at 7:30.
And the second reason, which all KTLK fans will be happy to learn about, is that Sony thinks that KTLK’s popularity is increasing, though slowly, but steadily; and if media reports are to be believed, a few Sony officials even admitted that “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” is among their top shows, right there with “C.I.D”. & “Bade Achche Lagate Hain”, so they didn’t want to take the risk of shifting it to an odd slot like 11 PM.

Confusion About Time Slot…

Update(11.05.12)- Sony has once again decided to change KTLK's timing. From 28th May the show will air Mon-Thu at 11 PM.

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (39)

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the time-slot of KTLK. Sony itself seems to be in state of confusion- weather to continue the show at 8 PM or shift it to the odd slot of 11 PM. A few days back there was a buzz in media that a new show, “Shubh Vivah” will replace   KTLK at 8 PM, however TV promos of “Shubh Vivah” have made it clear that its not going to happen as “Shbh Vivah” will be aired at 7:30.

Now if “Shubh Vivah” will air at 7:30, then what will replace KTLK at 8.

So most probably KTLK will continue at 8 even after 27th Feb. Ironically Sony also aired a TV ad few days back telling us that KTLK will air at 11 PM from 27th Feb. So obviously there is a kind of confusion prevailing  regarding the time slot of KTLK and SET itself is responsible for this. I’ll keep you updated in this regard as soon as I get any info.

I’ve written this post in a hurry, so please pardon any mistakes that I might have committed.

3 Changes In Show’s Schedule…

Update(11.05.12)- Sony has once again decided to change KTLK's timing. From 28th May the show will air Mon-Thu at 11 PM.

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (30)

SET India is set to make three crucial changes to KTLK’s schedule. These changes are –: (1.) The show-run has been reduced to 30 min from 21st Jan, (2.) KTLK will be aired at 11 PM from 27th Feb (There is already a repeat telecast of the show at 11, but now the 11 PM telecast will be the original telecast.) and (3.) The show (from 27th Feb) will run from Mon to Thu instead of Mon to Fri.

All these changes being made just to accommodate two new shows, Kya Hua Tera Wada & Shubh Vivah. 11 PM shift, however to an extent, may also be attributed to the low TRPs at 8 PM slot and comparatively higher ones at 11 PM.

The latest TRP of the show (at 8 PM) is 1.5. It was almost the same for the preceding week as well. I believe this is a result of negative promotion of the serial by Sony. While Mallika’s suicide sequence was advertised on Sony TV, there was not even a single TV ad for the beautiful violin date scene. May be it’s been so because Sony is engaged in promoting the newly introduced serials, Kya Hua Tera Wada & Shubh Vivah. Sony must realise that its equally important to adequately promote the existing serials as well.
Coming back to the point of change of time slot, show’s producer Rajan Shah refused to make any comment on the issue saying that "It's a channel prerogative to comment on time slots." However according to media sources Team KTLK is not at all disappointed with the change, in fact the are of the opinion the this move will prove to be beneficial for the show.

Time Shift…

Update(11.05.12)- Sony has once again decided to change KTLK's timing. From 28th May the show will air Mon-Thu at 11 PM.

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” has averaged around 1.5 TVRs at 8 PM time slot, but at the same time the show has done quite better at 11 PM. Finally SET India seems to have realised that a mature show like KTLK, in which things are not as dramatic as in other over-dramatic household soaps like “Balika Vadhu” & “Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon”. Things are shown quite subtly in KTLK, &  in my opinion that’s the beauty of the show. But perhaps, the Prime-Time audience wants High Voltage drama and a lighter show like KTLK is the most suitable for 11 PM. So as a result the channel (SET India) has taken the decision to shift  Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” to the 11 PM slot sometime in February. A new show by UTV will be aired at 8 PM. But now the big question is, will KTLK run only from Monday to Thursday, as on Friday, there is “Crime Petrol” at 11 PM and KTLK repeat telecast is delayed to 12 Midnight. I don’t think the original telecast can be delayed by an hour on a weekly basis

Story Back On Track…

Dr Ashutosh & Nidhi

After a number of hits & misses and a hard time for viewers, the show seems to have come back on track. If the reactions on Mohnish Bahl’s Facebook Page are to be believed, the audience enjoyed the Jan 13 episode very much in which Dr Ashutosh introspected his feelings and Prorogued his hate for Nidhi; and now he has only love for her in his heart. But the big question is, will he love Nidhi even after knowing that she has sold his Baba’s house to a third person ? And another, even bigger question is, who is this man called Sandeep Bagheecha ? Does he have any connection with Rohan ?

I think, after all this house matter gets over, Nidh’s ailing Baba will ask her to marry, may be as his last wish and Dadi Bua will suggest the name of Rohan. Well this is only my personal prediction, I haven’t read any media reports saying so.

So a lot of interesting stuff is waiting for us in the episodes to come, so keep watching. And one thing more, I’ve added a few backstage pictures in the Gallery Section of the blog; so don’t forget to check them out.
