Twist In The Tale…!

Dr. Ashutosh Looking At His Old House

If you think that everything will go through as easily as Dr. Ashutosh and Nidhi’s reunion, you are wrong for sure . As I mentioned in my last post, very soon we might see an announcement about Nidhi’s marriage with Rohan. But that’s not the only twist in this tale. In fact a number of twists and turns are waiting for the viewers to enjoy. (I don’t know weather you’ll enjoy or curse the writer for them!) Another twist that is in the pipeline is Nidhi coming to know that she owns Ashutosh’s Baba’s house. Will she tell Ashutosh the truth right away and gift the house to him ? (And if that happens, will Ashutosh love her even then ?) Another possibility is that Nidhi’s Baba might suffer a huge loss in business (due Mansukhani’s plan) and he might ask Nidhi to sell the house to the buyer who is willing to pay three times the market price of the house. In that situation will Nidhi take money from the man she loves (Dr. Ashutosh) ? And will she let Ashutosh know that truth ?

These are the things to look for in the coming episodes. Now, lets not talk about what may happen in coming episodes; lets relook at what has happened so far in the story. In my opinion the serial has been just fantastic so far. More than the story I liked the acting of the two leads, Mohnish Bahl & Kritika Kamra, and the way their characters were portrayed. One of Mohnish’s fans posted the following comment on his Facebook Page –:

“Ashu doesn’t seem like a ‘reel’ character. When I’m watching him, I don’t feel as if I’m watching someone on screen acting the part. He feels very real. He’s a well-defined character, not ‘flat’ like the usual characters on TV.
And aside from your excellent acting skills what makes him seem real are the mannerisms that you’ve attributed to him. The one hand in his pocket when he stands and talks, the nonchalant shrugging of the shoulders, the placing of the hand, or fingers against his cheek with head cocked to one side when he’s listening to someone.
All these small mannerism or quirks add to the depth f his character. What I want to know is how much of that is a conscious effort on your part and how much is just instinctive when you step into his shoes?”

I totally agree with this. In fact both Mohnish Bahl & Kritika Kamra are doing a great job. Media sources even say that all the actors of KTLK attended a kind of workshop before the show went on air. This was perhaps for the first time in the history of Indian Television that actors were made to attend an acting workshop.

Now I’m embedding here the video of the 26th December Episode. Yes ! its the Super-Duper hit episode in which the two lovers confessed their love to each other and shared some nice moments together.

Episode 61 (December 26) Ashutosh & Nidhi spend some time together.

I hope you’d have enjoyed the video.

That Eighties’ Show….”Dhoop Kinare”

Rahat Kazmi in Dhoop Kinare

Before I start this post, I'd like to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

Now coming to the subject of this post, let’s talk a bit about “Dhoop Kinare”, a serial that ruled millions of hearts on both the sides of the border (India and Pakistan) in late eighties. As you might know, “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” is an Indian remake of “Dhoop Kinare”. Its effervescent heroine was Dr Zoya, she of the short haircut, who dared to fall in love with the dashing but strict Dr Ahmer Ansari, who was twice her age, and who famously defied her snooty rival in love, Dr Sheena, with the words, “Mohabbat aur dukaandari main farq hota hai”. For an entire generation of teenage girls, Zoya was an icon.

Zoya and Ahmer were created in 1987 in Karachi, and made actors Marina Khan and Rahat Kazmi household names. Twenty-three years later, Sony Entertainment Television bought its official rights to create Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, on air since 3rd October, with Kritika Kamra playing Zoya and Mohnish Behl in the role of Ahmer.

But, Karachi-based Haseena Moin, who wrote the original classic, isn’t impressed. She was hesitant to give away the rights of her famous drama. “Basically, I’m against remakes because woh baat phir se nahin paida hoti jo pehle keh chuke hain,” she says. It was the merit of Rang De Basanti writer Kamlesh Pandey, who is the creative in-charge of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, which made Moin change her mind. She saw the first episode and didn’t watch it again. “Dhoop Kinare was about a relationship that developed over a period of time. In this show, the romance started from the beginning. Their eye contact started from day one. Do minute tak woh ankhon mein dekhte hi rehte hain. Zoya was bubbly, but she never overacted. The casting doesn’t feel right,” she says. But, I do not agree with her at all. In KTLK as well, relationship developed over a period of time. There was nothing like love in the initial episodes. I’ve also written about this in detail in one of my posts. And also, anyone who watches KTKL, would surely agree that no one could have done it better than Mohnish Behl & Kritika Kamra. I just don’t understand why Haseena Moin says that the casting is not right.

Let anyone say anything, I’ll keep watching KTLK. I hope that you also watch it. And, by the way the story of KTLK is getting more & more gripping day by day. So keep watching.

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

And Finally They Did That…….

Dr. Ashutosh & Nidhi

After quite a long wait, at last it happened. Dr. Ashutosh and Nidhi, with the help of their friends, finally expressed their feelings(of love) for each other. The viewers of the show were very eagerly waiting for the moment to come.

Rohan and Arman used a rather filmy idea by telling Nidhi and  Dr. Ashutosh respectively to meet them at a fixed place, and they themselves didn’t turn up, leaving the two to have a face-off. As per the plan, Arman and Rohan drove Dr. Ashutosh and Nidhi to the meeting point. Both the parties got stuck in traffic because of a qawali performance happening at a Dargah that attracted a huge

crowd of people. Both Dr. Ashutosh and Nidhi were mesmerised by the sight and the former remembered his Baba who was fond of qawalis. They both decided to step out of their respective cars, started moving towards the singers and came face-to-face eventually. But before they could turn away, Arman prompted Ashutosh to confess his feelings to Nidhi this time and told her that Ashutosh loves her. Rohan too clarified that he is not Nidhi's boyfriend and that she only loves Ashutosh. The two lovers finally confessed love for each other as the qawali reached its crescendo.

Here is the video of 60th episode of the show, in which all the drama mentioned above happened –:

Episode 60, December 23

I hope you’d have enjoyed the video. Fantastic episode! Wasn’t it ? Well, now that all the important thing (confession of love) has happened, the big question is what will the story move around now ? You may click here to read one of my posts about the possibilities that may arise after the important confession. Anyways, the story’s been going pretty well so far.

Why You Should Watch KTLK…?

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge

Just imagine, you don’t watch a TV serial, and a friend of you insists you to  watch that, then obviously the very first question that you’d ask to him would be, what’s so special about the show that I should watch it ? This clearly suggests that people want something unique or special in a show to watch it. But is there anything unique about KTLK ? If you have been reading this blog regularly, you would surely say that I have already mentioned many unique things about the show in my earlier posts, from the Age-Gap factor to the kind of friends that the two leads in the story have. But all that was only my point of view. (You may click here or here to read my views about the USP of the show.) What is that, the audience likes to watch ? If one just looks at what people have commented on various posts of Mohnish Behl (Dr. Ashutosh) on his Facebook Page, one must say that people want to watch love scenes between the two leads without there being any backdrop of that old house. But seriously, will people like to watch a simple love story with no hurdles ? No. Surely No. People show interest in a love story only when the lovers struggle; and what they struggle about is the story and the way it is presented usually becomes the USP of that story. Same is the case with KTLK as well. According to the serial's executive producer, Chandan, there are a number of hurdles in the way of the two leads of the story, which the audience like. In his own words, “First, they(Dr. Ashutosh & Nidhi) will not express it, then there is an age gap between the main love pair, and then there is his (Dr. Ashutosh’s) college friend who is in love with him. Such a play of emotions is always appreciated by the audience of soaps.” He also said that he expects the serial to be on air for at least three years. (For a big fan of KTLK like me 3 years are not enough.)

I hope that you also like this beautiful TV drama. And if you haven’t watched it yet & don’t know what it is all about, you may click here, read what the show is all about, and then start watching it.

Now at last, there is a bad news for all KTLK fans. The show might go back to the classical half an hour (30 min) duration, possibly from January 16th to make room for a new serial.

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

What will the story move around……?

Dr. Nidhi Verma

Whenever I am thinking about KTLK, a thought always comes to my mind, that is what’ll happen after both Dr. Ashutosh & Nidhi will come to know that they love each other ? Will they simply get married and settle down ? Or they will hesitate to accept their love in public ? (in that case the story will become a typical Romeo Juliet kind of drama) Or will that old house create some problems? (especially when Ashutosh’s Baba’s will come in and reveal the past connection between the two lovers) Or will the show become a typical soap opera ? Another possibility is that the show will go off air after that (I hope not so as I’m a big of of it).

In an interview Monish Behl (Dr. Ashutosh) ruled out any possibility of a typical household drama. In his words, “Neither Ashutosh nor Nidhi has a mother so there cannot be a Saas-Bahu drama. We’ll try to stretch this(Ashutosh and Nidhii’s love story) as much as possible”.

Now, that Nidhi has come to know (through Rohan) that Dr. Ashutosh also loves her, soon we might expect a reunion of the two lovers. But wait ! What about Dr. Ashutosh’s presumption that Nidhi has moved on and also has a boyfriend. (which is in fact wrong) ? And what about Ashutosh’s Baba and his old house ? The issue of the house is going to come up very soon as Mansukhani has made full planning to force Col. Verma and Nidhi to sell their house. So the next few episodes are going to be very interesting !

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

The Nuances Of A Complicated Relationship…

Dr. Ashutosh & Nidhi

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” highlights the nuances of a complicated relationship of love (in fact a different kind of love) between two people who not only have differences in their tastes(likes & dislikes), but also belong to two completely different generations. And this is what may be called the USP of this show. Another thing that makes this show unique is the way in which professional friendliness gradually develops into a kind of affection, which finally results into what the world calls “Love”. I love this serial just because it highlights and exemplify how two very different people (who initially do not like each other), get friendly and eventually fall in love. However there are also many other reasons for liking this serial; one of them, as I mentioned in my last post, being the manner in which friendship has been presented in the show.

There have been a number of scenes in the serial so far that highlight the nuances of a relationship of love. Here I’m including two of such scenes-:

I hope you’d have enjoyed the videos. These are two of my favourite scenes from the serial.

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

Friends In Deed…

Nidhi with AngiSometimes I just envy Dr. Ashutosh & Dr. Nidhi for the kind of friends they have in their lives! Whenever anything exciting or new happens in Nidhi’s life, she can’t help sharing it with Anji. From love to career , everything she shares with her. Its also not that its a one way friendship. Always, unfailingly Nidhi gets a positive response from Anji. However, at times they also disagree, and even have a sweet fight; but that's all part & parcel a healthy relationship.

Similarly Dr. Ashutosh also has his friend, Armaan, who always want to see Ashutosh happy. He not only helps him acknowledge his love for Nidhi, but also he’s become a kind of “Love Guru” for Ashutosh & trying his best to unite him with Nidhi again. Dr. Ashutosh with ArmaanThough he is person of very different nature, he understands his friend’s feelings very well. It didn’t take him a minute to Figure out that Ashutosh is in love.

All this seems to be fantastic, in fact it is ! How nice would it be if in this selfish world, we could find solace in our friendship and could share all types of experiences, good or bad, with him/her. Do such friends exist in real life ? May be, but I they are very rare for sure !

With a hope that you also find  a true friend in your life, I would like to conclude here.

But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

KTLK Completes Half Century…

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (5)I am very Happy to announce that your(& my) favourite show 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge' has completed 50+ episodes (54 by now)! I would like To congratulate Kritika, Monish & rest of the cast and crew of this amazing show! Thank you for putting together Such A rocking And Unique Love-story. Wish you lots & lots of success and TRPs. Kritika & Monish are doing a superb job as Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh. They are doing full justice to their roles and no Other actors could have portrayed the characters As Well As They Have

As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that KTLK is based on “Dhoop Kinare”, that, 25 years back, used to the heartbeat of innumerable young hearts in Pakistan. Initially, as the TRPs indicated, the show(KTLK) could not do as expected, but now I can see that the show is gaining popularity. Especially, its title song (सैंयाँ नयनों की भाषा समझे ना) has become immensely popular among its viewers. Here’s the video of the title track-:

KTLK Title Track (सैंयाँ नयनों की भाषा समझे ना)

Its really a fantastic song. I  have set it as my cell phone’s ringtone.

And now at last I would pray, Log Kuch Kehte Rahein & may this show complete hundreds and thousands of successful episodes. Keep Watching KTLK on SONY TV. God Bless!

The Game That Destiny Plays…

Dr. Nidhi Verma

The 14th December episode of KTTLK highlights the fact that how far two lovers may go from each other, the destiny will never let them do so. They are set to meet again and again. Dr. Ashutosh goes to Mumbai to attend the National Medical conference. But he never knew that Dr. Nidhi who had just got a job as an intern in “City Centre Holy Hospital” (due to Ashutosh’s recommendation) will also be there to attend the sane conference. For me this was really one of the best episodes of the serial so far. The best part of the episode was when Dr. Ashutosh took the stage in the conference to deliver a speech and said something like this-:

Medical Science has provided us with a number of tools and methods to treat various ailments & diseases, but there are a few lessons that can not be learnt in a Medical college. Our life teaches these lessons. I learnt them from a junior intern of mine”

Nidhi was also there listening Ashutosh saying these lines in front a large audience of senior most doctors from all around the country.  Her eyes were in tears and a feeling of a kind of Nostalgic Love was clearly visible through them.

After watching this scene all that I could say was “Brilliant acting & scripting” . Now I’m eagerly waiting for the next episode. And you also keep watching this bitterly interesting TV Drama. If due to any reason you missed 14th December episode OR want to watch it again (I have watched it thrice), here’s the video:-

Episode 53 (14th December) {This is my favourite Episode)

Hope you enjoyed the video!

The Story Of Mr. Earrings….

Rohan (Karan Wahi), the new character introduced in the serial,Rohan has finally  succeeded to figure out what's going on in Nidhi’s life. In yesterday’s episode, Nidhi revealed to Rohan that she loves someone who is 18 years older than her. Just opposite to what was expected about Rohan’s role (that he & Nidhi will fall in love), he (at least for now) seems to be encouraging Nidhi to take her love-story forward. I think, the story writers are just waiting for the right time, they just want to stretch these interesting sequences as much as possible.

The latest promo of KTLK shows that both Nidhi & Dr. Ashutosh will go to Mumbai for some official work and meet their again. Will Ashutosh ask for forgiveness to Nidhi ? OR Will he insult her again ? Well , I am not the writer of this drama, so I can’t tell you what exactly is going to happen , but I think nothing very big (like Ashutosh coming to know that the girl who owns his  house is Nidhi ) is going to happen in the next few episodes at least. The simple reason for I am saying this is, any story-maker would like to stretch the things as much as possible.

So enjoy watching this gripping drama; & those who missed the last episode (13th December), here’s the video –:

Episode 52 (13th December)

Two Confessions…..

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (27)

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (12)

Now when both Dr. Nidhi & Dr. Ashutosh have confessed their love for each other to their friends, the story has become somewhat different. While Dr. Ashutosh thinks Nidhi’s affection for him is just an infatuation, Nidhi is completely unaware about Dr. Ashutosh’s feelings about her. In a sense, she hates Dr. Ashutosh, but there’s still a feeling of affection (for Dr. Ashutosh) in her heart. This becomes evident when she stops her “BaBa” from speaking anything against Dr. Ashutosh.

Both Nidhi & Dr. Ashutosh shared their their feelings about each other with their friends. And coincidently,  in both the confession scenes it was raining ! But there was also a big difference in two love acknowledgements.  After acknowledging her love for Dr. Ashutosh, while Nidhi was looking forward to get into a relationship with him, Dr. Ashutosh did just the opposite. Their friends are also playing the opposite roles in their lives. Armaan wants Ashutosh to complete his Love –Story while Angi wants Nidhi to forget about Dr. Ashutosh.

After these two Super-Hit Love Confessions, its become very interesting to see, how will the two lovers unite again. Will Armaan succeed to convince Ashutosh to tell Nidhi that he loves her ? Or will it be Dr. Ashutosh’s old house that will pave the way for the two lovers to meet ? And if that happens, Will they remain lovers ? These are the questions whose answers we will discover in the coming episodes of the show.

Here are the videos of the episodes in which the two lovers acknowledged their love.

Nidhi reveals her love for Dr. Ashutosh

Dr. Ashutosh confesses his love for Nidhi

I hope that you’d have enjoyed the videos. Both of these were two of the most interesting episodes of the show. (By interesting I don’t mean that these were the best episodes; as I have written in my earlier posts, for me the best thing about the show is the chemistry that Dr. Ashutosh & Nidhi share and the way they interact with each other.)

What to look for in the coming episodes ?

  • Will Armaan convince Ashutosh to complete his Love Story ?
  • Will Mansukhani compel Col. Verma to sell the Old House ?
  • Will Nidhi develop a relationship with Rohan ?
  • What tricks will Mallika try ?

These questions will form the base of the story in the coming episodes. It will be also interesting to see, what additional methods, the writer uses to make the story even more gripping.

That's all for today ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.

Karan Wahi :A Cameo OR A Character

In yesterday's episode of KTLK a new character was introduced (as I had already mentioned in my last post). As per media reports, and also I think, Karan will be same to Nidhi as Dr. Mallika is to Dr. Ashutosh. You may click here to view a media article.

Dr. Nidhi Verma Dismissed From Hospital

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (1)

I really didn't expect the  show to take this turn. In a recent episode  of our favourite TV serial the Chief Surgeon of Dr. Kotnis Hospital dismissed his intern “Dr. Nidhi Verma”. From my point of view it was not  the right thing to be done with a  story that was looking just perfect. People want to watch the chemistry of Dr. Ashutosh & Dr. Nidhi. Moreover as the latest promo of KTLK reveals, a new character is coming in Nidhi’s life, and he is a boy. Its very easy to guess that the boy, in coming episodes,  will be shown playing the same role in Nidhi’s life that Dr. Mallika plays in Dr. Ashutosh’s life.

So its very obvious that the story makers are just planning to increase the distance between the two leads of the story. I think they will meet only on the day when Dr. Ashutos will discover that the girl who owns his old house is “Dr. Nidhi”.

Well sorry, I am in a hurry today, so I am ending ere only, but remember I will be posting here frequently, so remain in touch  !!!

A Hospital Drama Or A Love Story ?

Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (36 edited)

Someone who has watched only the promos of the show, would surely say that its about love, but the initial episodes are undoubtedly, more about a Hospital Drama, but as the serial progresses one will find that there is indeed something like  a love story, but there still remains a confusion, what the show is all about ? In KTLK’s lead actress Kritika Karma’s words its a mainly a love story of two people, who not only have a huge age difference (about 18 years), but also belong to two different generations; and the Hospital Drama merely serves as a backdrop to the love story.

I do not agree with Kritika on this point. I love the show, not because it presents a different kind of love story ! I like the show because I want to see how two people from different age groups, from totally different backgrounds, interact with each other. I like the show because of Dr. Nidhi’s bubbliness and Dr.Ashutosh’s strictness. I must say that I love this show, more because  of its backdrop of a hospital drama than its main theme of a love story.

Below is clip taken from the show that depicts very nicely how two seemingly very different people can get friendly while travelling in car on a rainy night.

Dr. Ashutosh & Dr. Nidhi get friendly.

So I would like request the producers of KTLK to keep the theme of the show concentrated on the interesting interaction and conversation between Dr. Ashutosh & Dr. Nidhi.

And at last, hey this is my second post, if you haven't read the first post, just read it right now.

Thank You.

I wil be posting updates about the show from time to time, so stay in touch !

KUCH TOH LOG KAENGE- A HEARTWARMIING STORY…

Started on 3rd October on Sony TV, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge was expected to be a super-duper hit, considering the success that the show “Dhoop Kinare” had received in Pakistan. If you haven't read  much about KTLK and don't know the story-line of Dhoop Kinare, you must be  wondering what is the relation between the two. In fact KTLK’s story is based on a Pakistani TV serial, “Dhoop Kinre” that was aired on PTV about 25 years back. It received huge success.

But, KTLK, according to some Media reports got only one Television Rating Point at 8 PM (the time at which it is aired for the first time). However, the show has performed better(in fact the best, when compared to other TV serials) During its repeat telecast with two TVR points. Never, before in India has a TV serial performed better during the repeat telecast that the actual time of  its airing.

I feel. Kuch Toh Log Khenge is a fantastic TV serial, its got something that makes it different from other soaps and sitcoms. Its neither a total soap nor a total sitcom (the Pakistani version of the show “Dhoop Kinare” was regarded a sitcom by most of the reviewers). Its got a very nice blend of naughtiness and emotions. Dr. Nidhi Verma (a lead character in the show) is young, bubbly charming girl; but that does not at all means that she is an emotionless modern girl. That makes her a perfect character. Dr. Ashutosh another lead in the story is shown as a very strict surgeon. He is sometime nicknamed as Dr. Hardstone by other doctors. But he did not used to be so. His “BaBa” who had taken care of him (as he was an orphan), one day suddenly left him alone in this merciless world. This incidence made Dr. Ashutosh loose trust in any relation. So now he doesn't want to indulge in any relationship with anybody. That's  the reason that he has not married yet (at 42).

                                            Dr. Nidhi & Dr. Ashutosh

I hope that the above introduction of two of the leads of the serial would have made believed that its got something different. If you want to learn even more about the story, you may just click here. And, if you don't know much about the show and want to watch all the episodes online. you may click here.

At last, I would like to just request you to at least give a try to this fabulous show. I'm sure, you'll like it. You can watch it on Sony TV at the following timings-:

  • Monday to Friday    -            12 Noon, 3 PM, 8 PM & 11 PM
  • Saturday                   -             3 PM (5 back to back episodes)

The purpose of this blog is to popularise the show. I will be posting reviews, statistics and other interesting trivia about the show on this blog time to time. And of course reader’s comments are most welcomed.
